Hangman on an execution broadside. Guess the condemned man's last word one letter at a time; every wrong letter takes him a step nearer the drop - the rope, the noose, the cord, the blindfold, the lever - and the sixth opens the trap. Every day a new man, a new crime and a new word, the same for everyone; and an endless docket that grows harder with every pardon.
