About Contents May Vary

Contents May Vary is a free online Simulation game that runs right in your browser. There is nothing to download and no account to create: press Play and you are in. It works on desktop, laptop, tablet and mobile.

An anthology of incremental games in a stack of cardboard boxes. Open the first box and you fall into it: inside is a complete incremental game, half an hour to an hour and a half long, with its own rules, its own art style and its own music. Finish it and it hands you the next box, drawn in its own style, and what is in that one is a surprise until you are inside it: one box can be cosy and the next one ridiculous, and no two play or look alike. The shelf keeps every box you have opened with a souvenir from it, any of them can be played again, and a note in the last box says the next one is still being packed. New boxes arrive over time. Everything, from the pictures to the sound, is made in code; progress is saved in the browser.
